Soul River is proud to announce we are partnering with Outdoor Afro, a great organization that works to help African Americans connect with the great outdoors! Started by CEO Rue Mapp in 2009, the organization provides leadership training to facilitate conservation and recreational activities.

Their program is all about connecting people to the natural world through fun outdoor experiences. Like Soul River, they understand the benefits of connecting with nature and when people get outside, they become healthier, help foster stronger communities, and increase their stewardship to protect our precious natural environments. So far they have successfully connected nearly thousands of people to the outdoors and helped enhance their outdoor skills including camping, birding, and hiking.

Rue recently was awarded the Outdoor Industry Inspiration Award, presented by Adidas Outdoor at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market for her great work in connecting African Americans to the outdoors and inspiring positive change in communities and the natural environment.
